“Does My Baby Have Colic?” That’s a question that, as an Osteopath, I’m frequently asked by patients. (Click here for more information about Osteo for babies.)
Without observing your baby, it’s impossible and difficult to tell for sure, however these are common symptoms of colic to look out for:
- Abdominal discomfort
- Chucky baby
- Lots of wind
- Doesn’t sleep well
- Cries alot/constantly – without good reason
Any parent of a baby suffering from colic will tell you that they usually suspect colic as a result of uncomfortable, constant crying that proves challenging to soothe.
What is colic?
Despite years of research into the causes of Colic, there are no solid answers unfortunately.
Colic can be caused by a number of factors. It could be signifying an underlying illness or it could be nothing. Seeking treatment is important for your baby’s sake and your own too as a constantly crying baby can put your own mental health at risk.
It’s best to discuss the specific symptoms your baby is suffering from with a health professional to be able to provide appropriate treatment.
One of our Back in Balance Osteopaths can provide a gentle, quick and effective treatment solution.
